Jennifer Porter
Jennifer Rebecca Porter is a local business owner, attorney, and mother of three who has called Northern Virginia home for more than 26 years. As the founder of Jennifer Porter Law, PLLC, in Springfield, she helps people recover after serious injuries and helps families plan for the future. She brings an experienced attorney’s judgment and a neighbor’s concern to the people who turn to her for guidance.
Jennifer understands how unsettling it can be to face an injury, mounting bills, and unfamiliar legal decisions at the same time. Her approach combines careful preparation with personal attention: listening to what matters to each client, explaining their options, and helping them understand what comes next. She believes people deserve an advocate who takes their concerns seriously and makes room for their questions.
Before representing injured people, Jennifer spent years defending insurance companies, including serving as house counsel for Progressive Insurance. She worked alongside insurance adjusters, developed defense strategies, and litigated cases in court. Today, that experience helps her anticipate how insurers evaluate claims, identify potential obstacles, and prepare her clients’ cases for settlement negotiations or trial.
Jennifer founded her firm in 2021 after a legal career that began in 1998. Originally from East Tennessee, she earned her law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law and spent her third year as a visiting student at American University Washington College of Law. Her Tennessee roots remain close to her heart, especially when it is time to cheer on the Volunteers.
Her involvement in Northern Virginia extends well beyond her office. Jennifer has served on the boards of her neighborhood swim club and civic association and spent many years as a Girl Scout troop leader. She sponsors athletic programs at Annandale High School, West Springfield High School, and Lake Braddock Secondary School.
Having spent 27 years as a U.S. Navy military spouse, including raising young daughters through her husband’s deployments, Jennifer remains connected to military families through the Military Spouse J.D. Network.
Jennifer also contributes to the legal community through the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Fairfax Bar Association, where she previously served as president of the Young Lawyers Section. Her professional recognition includes selection to Super Lawyers and Northern Virginia Magazine’s Top Lawyers.
Of all her roles, being a mother to her three daughters is a particular source of pride. Family life, community service, and running a local business keep Jennifer closely connected to the everyday concerns of the people she serves. At her firm, she brings those experiences toogether with practical legal knowledge to help clients make informed decisions and move forward with confidence.
