DC Trial Lawyers Association’s Annual Awards Dinner

On May 11, 2024 — Jennifer attended the DC Trial Lawyers Association’s Annual Awards Dinner. This year, the event was held at Nationals Park and brought together trial lawyers who provide legal representation for personal injury clients in Washington, DC, for a night of recognition and camaraderie. Jennifer was pleased to attend on behalf of Jennifer Porter Law and witness the Honorable Nan Shuker receive the Women’s Caucus Award and the Government Accountability Project receive the Community Service Award.

The event also celebrated the incoming President, Traci Buschner (Guttman, Buschner & Brooks PLLC). It was an excellent opportunity for Jennifer to connect with fellow female attorneys who provide first-class legal representation for personal injury clients in DC and to honor the outstanding contributions of her colleagues.

Maryland Association for Justice’s Annual Convention

On May 10, 2024 — Jennifer attended the Maryland Association for Justice’s Annual Convention in Owings Mills, MD. As a personal injury attorney practicing in Maryland, Virginia, and DC, it is crucial for Jennifer to be involved in the trial lawyer associations across these jurisdictions. The convention featured an array of valuable programming and speakers dedicated to keeping attendees informed about the latest developments in the law, litigation strategies, and the evolving tactics employed by insurance companies against clients.

2024 Law Day Weiner Roast

On May 1, 2024 — Jennifer was a sponsor of the 22nd Annual Law Day Weiner Roast, a fundraiser that supports the Fairfax Law Foundation. This event was held to benefit the Foundation, which is the 501(c)(3) sister organization to the Fairfax Bar. The Fairfax Law Foundation works diligently to improve the public’s understanding of and access to the justice system through various initiatives, including law-related education for minors, pro bono programs, and raising funds for the Fairfax Public Law Library.

45th Annual Conner-Zaritsky Advanced Estate Planning

From April 26 - April 28, 2024 — Jennifer and Stephanie attended the 45th Annual Conner-Zaritsky Advanced Estate Planning and Administration Seminar held by the Virginia CLE.  This year the event was held at The Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia.  We listened to 3 days of fabulous speakers reviewing updates to the law and information to consider in our estate planning services.  This provides us with the resources to deliver top-notch and informed legal counsel to our clients.

Advanced Paralegal Retreat

From April 26 to April 27, 2024 — Our paralegal, Allison Alvey, recently attended the Advanced Paralegal Retreat hosted by the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. The event was held at The Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia, and featured two days of intensive sessions designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of paralegals working in various legal fields.

Fairfax Wills for Heroes

On February 8, 2024, Jennifer and Stephanie participated in the Fairfax Wills for Heroes program, held at the Greater Springfield Volunteer Fire Department in Springfield, Virginia. We volunteered for a 4.5-hour shift and prepared wills, advanced medical directives, and powers of attorney for local firefighters. This event allowed us to give back to our community and provide essential legal services to our first responders.
